Highs in the 70s were seen as far north as New Jersey, with other Northeastern and Midwestern cities breaking records on consecutive days with temperatures in the 60s. New York City (left and right) set records on both Saturday and Sunday, joining other cities across the country who were expected to see thermometer readings 30 degree above average on Monday. Forecasters predict that temperatures will stayabove average in the lead-up to Christmas (inset), though cooler air will bring the record-setting temperatures lower at the end of the upcoming week.
