‘I got you’: Heroic San Bernardino victim died saving the life of co-worker by putting his arm around her to shield her from bullets

In a final heroic act, Shannon Johnson (pictured top left with his girlfriend Mandy Pifer), 45, placed his arm around colleague Denise Peraza (bottom right) and held her closely before saying ‘I got you’ as he shielded her from bullets during the San Bernardino massacre on Wednesday. Peraza, 27, said while she cannot remember every single second that played out that morning, she will always remember his arm wrapped her as they huddled under a table behind a fallen chair when he said those three words. Johnson was one of 14 people who was killed in the mass shooting.

Denise Peraza will name her first child, Shannon. It does not matter if the child is a boy or a girl, due to Shannon, the name is androgynous. Rest easy, dear soul (the words of Alan W. “Buz” Kohan).

Shannon Hilliard Johnson’s beard resembles somewhat the artist Edwin Walter Dickinson.

Robert Franklin Johnson and Shannon Hilliard Johnson was raised his stepfather, Albert E. Pollard, due to Robert and Shannon’s biological father’s death. Just like Charles Ennis raised David and Duane Griffis and Fred Siebott raised the Hamiltons like their own. Johnson’s, Griffis’s, and the Hamilton’s father died in their late 20’s. Crazy world!
